The next project “Smarteen-2005” is directed to reveal of intellectual potential of youth in two regions — Tartumaa and Ida-Virumaa. Thanks to results of the previous project called “Club of intellectual games TARK” and to its successful evaluation and follow-up, we had been defined the priorities of work in this direction and in the field of non-formal education. Also thanks to the support of Government of Kohtla-Järve we have decided to carry out similar project in Ida-Virumaa region and attract two bilingual groups by working towards the increasing the activity within the frames of this project.

The one of the most relevant reasons to continue youth work in this field became the positive responses and reports by the participants. Participation in similar projects definitely gives to the participant, first of all, the opportunity to find appropriate circle of dialogue, to get acquainted with the senior generation and to join an aesthetics of intellectual games, to find adherents, to realize the potential and new ideas and to fill that lack of opportunities for youngsters. In such complex situations, there becomes especially important any kind of psychological and emotional support. Thanks to “Smarteen” that includes, besides games, also tournaments, trainings, trips and meetings, its participants receive needed support and an opportunity to show their leadership and team work qualities.

Main aims of this project are:
- Increasing the activity in two regions — Tartumaa and Ida-Virumaa;
- Raising of awareness of youth work in both regions and increasing of the interest;
- Uniting the youngsters from different cultural and language group through different kinds to spare free time;
- Development of personal qualities in individual and team work;
- Revealing and development of charismatic and leadership qualities of participants of the project;
- Attraction of attention of local government to leisure opportunities, in particular, intellectual leisure, and increasing of an intellectual level of youth in both regions;
- Finding and granting of an opportunity for receiving the financial support in other regions of Estonia;
- Supporting of integrational process among youngsters.

Target group of the project is Estonian and Russian school students in the age of 13—18 from Tartumaa and Ida-Virumaa (Kohtla-Järve, Jõhvi, Narva, Kiviõli, Sillamäe etc).

Project coordinator: Dmitri Pechjonkin.

The project is supported by Government of Tartu, Government of Kohtla-Järve and Hasartmängumaksu Nõukogu Foundation.
